I came home from work to find in my garden the remains of what could have been a blackbird I later found lots of feathers in my summer house - I felt very sad that something had died in my garden Just now I heard the most fearful racket and saw a magpie trying to fly off with quite a large baby blackbird Mum and Dad were seeing him off; he dropped the baby and it died Dreadful - I never knew they could do this

I've heard of Magpies doing this sort of thing before JW. Maybe that's why people say when they see one of them 1 for sorrow. How awful nature can be sometimes.

There were a trio of baby magpies hanging around our caravan, beautiful markings and little fluffy heads, but a very sinister bird, still its nature I suppose.

Actually have to larff afterward cos I looked out of the window and saw what I thought was one of the adults lying flat out, dead, on next door's hot tub tarpourline So fresh tears and sobs. I thought Oh No Mummy died of broken heart - I could see the feathers fluttering but no sign of life Turns out, in the morning when I checked, it was a black brush and the bristles looked like feathers

Oh you are a Softie Jenny-- I thought you were going to say it was 'Bathing' in the sun--which they sometimes do- they spread their wings out and lap up the sunshine.
