No birdies used my little bird house this year but a few days ago I saw a bee going in there I thought awh how nice Mr Bee is making a home for his family But But But last night I saw a few of them swarming round it <shriek> and I wasnt sure if they were wasps If bees are they going to stay in and around the box or start a swarm or what ? If wasps then sadly will have to be the Oops Man in Anyone any ideas - am I in danger of my life ;D I am not scared of bees in any way but not sure if I want them en masse near my house

Well they is wasps. Mr Bee obviously didnt like it and didnt stay - I have seen a couple buzzing over it and then gone in so have sprayed Wasp Killer in it - making a hasty retreat when I did so Will keep my eye on it - I had a wasps nest last year - they were coming into my bedroom <shriek>

I've got no bee knowledge at all Jenny but a little group of bees have made their home in one of our air bricks. The only time they have been grumpy in the weeks since they moved in is when I put a large tub of daffs in front of the air brick and they couldn't work out how to get in. OH wanted to get rid of them but I'm really worried about the big drop in bee numbers and I said to leave them alone unless they start coming indoors - no sign yet. Maybe the wasps have started building their nest in or around that area - hopefully they will get the hint and buzz off. We had a whopper wasps nest in a rolled up carpet in the shed last year - I knew there was a nest cos of the amount of wasps but we didn't find it until I unrolled the carpet as we were going to use it - never left the shed so quickly in all the time we've been here.

I wonder if the wasps have started a little nest in your box Jenny and are diddled because the bees have moved in.

I would much rather Bees than Wasps-I am allergic to both their stings-and have to carry tablets around with me if I get stung and then see the Doctor straight away- What with Hayfever and Stings it is a wonder I can get through the Summer - but I still love the outdoors and am willing to take that chance!

They is def Bees - I think maybe the odd wasp just has a look in
Googled them and they could be Bumble Bees and not Honey Bees - they are safe - so the article says and wont swarm. But even so am not too happy being near them
But I cant kill them that's for sure - I tapped on the box late last night with a large stick and two came out to see what the commotion was and then went back in again
I can see a def nest which appears to be on the roof of the bird box
