I would reccommend 'Crocus' (Stockists for Shrubs and Plants) to any of my gardening friends. It is not often I have ordered from them but each time I have been delighted with the Service given. My last order was for 2 Acer Trees (5 days ago) they have arrived this morning in excellent condition, well packed, good healthy plants and are now 'out in the garden'. In contrast to this Spaldings were the opposite-I ordered a Standard Rose Tree from them and although they did replace the order (with reluctance) I was not very happy with the said Rose Tree or service given. Have any members had good or bad experiences with Mail Orders? If so lets hear about them- Bigs

I think Crocus are brilliant too Biggs - I have ordered from them lots of times and apart from having to wait a bit sometimes the orders are always so well packed and the plants are of great quality. Hayloft Plants are good too but I hardly ever want 3 of something which is how they sell most of their plants - they do pack their plants well too. T & M don't pack so well but the one time some of my plants arrived broken they were replaced quickly and without quibbling following an email from me to their customer services. Avon Bulbs are good too. Ordered from Sarah Raven for the first time this year and only 1 out of the 3 dahlias I ordered has grown - her stuff is not cheap either.

I know we speak as we find-but the fiasco with the Standard Rose Tree was really frustrating! here is the specimen they sent- as a replacement the other one was just as bad! ;D I am using it as a support for my Sweetpeas-still as dead as a Do-Do- If it shows any sign of life this year I will apologise. I looked in Spaldings catalogue last year for Brugs but couldn't find any--so will keep an eye open again for them and give Spalding another chance ;D You have some really good specimens of Brugs and you can now take cuttings from them--Lucky you--Bigs

If those lovely Tulips you posted (for the competition) were from Avon Bulbs they were well worth it. I will have to try them for next year.

I have heard such a lot of good reports about Crocus - can you tell me how you accept delivery - as I am not in during the day Can they just leave outside house or do you have to be there and sign for them That "tree" Biggy looks rather like something you would find on a "Dig" looking for old bones. Lookes rather like someone's arm and hand - are you sure it is a rose

The tulip bulbs came from Crocus Biggs, they had a very good range last autumn. I use Avon bulbs for snowdrops and daffodils. Jenny, Crocus parcels just get left somewhere safe - you don't have to sign for them. Ours get put through the side gate so they can't be seen from the road.

I haven't bought anything from Crocus yet but my wish list is getting longer & longer.........
T&M - it could have been the plants I had last year - Bat & white egret orchids but neither did any good. They did replace the first bat, but the second died off as well. I think that is more to do with the fact it is better to buy a plant rather than a tuber (I overheard a seller saying they are difficult when I went to GWL last year!) - and that is how they are selling them this year.
Suttons - I have found them to be good this year.
Bloms - we had our tulips from them last October and they were excellent, all have flowered (we have more in flower now than in the comp thread as some were later ones).
JW, could you have your parcels delivered to work? A number of us do here but we are only a small company so it doesn't cause any hassle.

Jenny--On the order form it says "Instructions for parcels to be left---- when out" I just put " leave near Black Cupbaord by front door. They are pretty good-because it is Royal Mail who deliver and they leave it where it is fairly safe and cant be seen. Even 'In Dustbin' would do but remember to look ;D If left with a neighbour then they have to sign to say they have received them on your behalf.

I think that will be ok with a bit of tlc Biggs, although I think you should have got a better specimen in the first place. Interestingly the 2 roses I have ordered from Crocus have been gorgeous specimens and the 1 rose I ordered direct from David Austin looked a bit sorry for itself when it arrived and it still isn't as healthy looking as I think it should be.

Jas--I have given it tlc (this is the second season) fingers crossed it 'picks up'-- I like the Crocus site but must admit they are a bit more expensive than others. I received an e-mail from them Thanking me for my order,(Acer Trees) and if they could help me further I only had to e-mail them and they would oblige-Nice touch I thought! I might try them for Roses next time and skip Spaldings and ;D David Austin- ;D

Crocus seem very organized then if there is a box to tick if not at home as they can be left by side of garage without any probs I shall go on the site and use the discount code - where did that originate from Jasmine Just a little comp here Can anyone name the flower that appears on their home page on the left - under the heading "Find the right plant" Only reason I ask is that I have a couple ;D

I forget where that code came from Jenny but it has worked for ages. It comes up every now and again on a couple of other gardening sites I use.
