This arrived for a visit today in my garden. I've never seen anything like it before, it's a creamy colour. Has anyone else seen anything like this before? I've seen creamy coloured slugs before but not a spider.

I did try looking it up Maggy but got a bit freaked by all the images I was seeing. I have no idea where it is now and I'm a bit scared to be honest, have no idea if it bites and I always garden without gloves. I'm just a big baby sometimes. It would be good if Sleepy does know something about it.

It is so striking against that purple pansy LG - you'd think a bird would have snapped it up as it is so obvious.

Just found this bit of information on Google--- Quite alot of Gardeners commented that they do not bite--so I wouldn't worry too much about it ;D There are some horrible 'looking' spiders--but this one dosen't look too bad-- ;D A carnivorous Crab Spider sits motionless on a leaf waiting to ambush its prey. Unlike many spiders, Crab Spiders do not use a web to catch their prey. Instead, they sit motionless on a yellow or white flower with their crab-like front limbs outstretched, waiting to grab an unsuspecting insect who comes to feed on the flower's nectar. They can increase their chances of catching a meal by changing their colour to match that of the flower they are sitting on. The process can take several days but the variety of possible colours ranges from white through to green and yellow. Their size is around 10mm with the males being smaller than the females. They are quite common in southern England during the summer months. __________________

Biggles well done The one in my garden sat there for ages and ages and you can see the pincher like thingys out at the front right enough. The bum part looks a bit different but maybe one is male and the other female. That makes me think it's the same as the one you've posted on. I'm very relieved to hear it does'nt bite. Thank you again. Jasmine it does really stand out, I don't know where it went to 'tho. Maggie thanks for your help.

That top link was really interesting thank you Sleepy. The description does seem to match. I was'nt prepared for the 2nd one tho, it's like something from outer space. How clever of the male to bring a gift to stop her from eating him.

I saw the white crab spider but I didnt think it looked like yours at all L.G. the one Sleepy has posted looks more like as the back part is more alongated than the crab and as you say its an albino so just rarer as long as it doesnt bite your alright!! I dont think they do in this country WERE too civilized.
