I planted out my onion sets a few days ago. Have put in aound 60 of them in my new veg bed which is actually turning into an onion bed. Shallots and onions and hopefully room for some carrots. So far the birds have'nt touched them.

The folks on these boards have a lot to answer for FB. Up until last year I'd never grown any veg except tomatoes and even then only once. Got my boxing week onions planted out today as well. Only a few ailsa craig and the white lisbon have survived but they're taking their chances in the new (veg) onion bed.

Everything has settled in. The shallots have tons of green growth on them and the onions are starting to get the green tufts.

Maggie my lawn seems to get smaller every year, and there's quite a lot which can be grown in pots. Yesterday I sowed some White Lisbon spring onions into a container. fingers crossed I'll get some scallions.
