I have often wondered whether Slugs and Snails get frozen and killed off in this sort of Artic weather we are getting at the moment. If they do are the Eggs that are laid under the soil protected? I know that turning the soil over in the Spring lifts them to the surface so Birds can get to them. Has anyone any theories on this?--Bigs

We have a problem with snails and they seem to hibernate under planks of wood, pots, anywhere where they can hide! my son wanted some wood out of our garage when it was pulled away from the wall there were snails underneath. But Ive noticed that if you see a clump of clay! turn it over and I bet there is a snail underneath! the crafty little beggers.

Eww they do seem to corgrigate under things, I think a frost would kill them otherwise.

A couple of the hens will eat the snails but none of them'll touch the slugs - if I find them I put them the composter or just leave them as long as they leave the pots alone! There isn't that much lefti n the garden that the slugs or snails will happily eat - I've had to adapt that way.

How bright are chickens???
