Do any of you ever buy bargain seeds? The first lot of seeds I ever bought were from a bootsale, snowball turnips were amongst them I remember. I followed the instructions and they looked like they were growing but when I came to dig them up there was nothing there! I knew even less about gardening in those days and didn't even think to look for a used by date, so thee seeds were prolly years old. Last year a shop by us here called cheap as chips had 1000's of seeds on sale mainly herbs 10p per packet, they were just out of date, I overdid it and still have about 10 packs in the GH the seeds I planted from them last year did well. On sat I was in Wilkinson's and bought some tom seeds 75% off they are used by Feb 09. Do you think sale seeds are a waste of time and money, or would you give= them a shot? Is there anything IE parsnip seeds that you should never bother with once out of date?

Sometimes it works out just as cheap to buy 'plug' plants if you have a small garden but Annuals I would buy and take a chance on them. However sometimes Members may have some seed left over in the packet which they know wont be used--Maybe if these were offered to members (on another thread) then the seed wouldn't get wasted -just the price of postage would be worth it!! Although I personally would gladly share mine without asking for Postage because I might even get some seed in return for mine ;D Bigs
