Just thought I'd post this recipe which I cooked tonight - it was really tasty I thought: Thinly sliced cabbage (I used January King) 1 large apple sliced 1 onion sliced 1 leek Diced chestnut mushrooms Pint of stock or cider/stock mixture Lightly fry the onions and add leeks and cabbage after a couple of minutes. Cook gently for 2 minutes and add the mushrooms and apple. After heating through add a nice big knob of butter, stir and season with salt, black pepper and herbs. Transfer to a casserole dish and add the liquid. Cover and cook in a medium oven for 30 minutes, removing the lid for the last 5/10 minutes. We had it with jacket spuds, veggie sausages, and peas but it would be very nice with meat, garlic bread etc, in fact I think you could serve it with lots of things and add loads more stuff to it. It's only a simple dish, probably nothing special but it's a nice winter vegetable dish I think and might make a pleasant change ( and it's easy!)

That sounds nice 4P - I did a similar thing with Red cabbage, I seem to remember brown sugar and white wine vinegar was involved and it was very nice. No frying though, just in the oven for about 2 hours!

Yes, I've tried that too but I think I prefer this one - it's easier.... I made too much so the surplus is going to the basis for a nice vegetable soup..I do love a bowl of soup with buttered french stick for lunch...waste not want not etc etc..
