Has anyone got a really simple straightforward recipe for chocolate cake? The kids are all off today and I though I would surprise them - I've got cocoa and cooking chocolate to put over it but maybe the two together will be a bit much. I'm not sure how much cocoa to put in....... Thanks!

This is a really easy recipe given to me by someone on another board Rosie's milk chocolate cake 7oz SR flour 1oz cocoa powder ( a good heaped taplespoon) 8oz caster sugar 4oz margarine or butter 5 tablespoons water 5 tablespoons evaporated milk - from a small tin 2 eggs few drops vanilla extract pinch salt Method Sift together the flour, cocoa powder and salt Rub in the butter Mix together the eggs, water and milk Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and mix well. Put into a greased, lined 8 " deepish sandwich tin and bake in the middle of the oven Gas no. 4 for about 35- 40 mins until springy in the centre. For my DIL to be I turn this cake into a malteser cake Icing - this makes plenty!!! 8 - 10oz Icing sugar Block chocolate - I use Sainsburys belgian - usually half plain and half milk 2oz butter rest of the tin of evaporated milk bag maltesers few drops vanilla extract Melt the chocolate and butter over a pan of hot water beat in the icing sugar, milk and vanilla Decorate with maltesers.

Thanks The witch, that's a nice straightforward one too. Still haven't made it though.
