I think they are flour mites - I can remember having them in my cupboard a few years ago I am always very careful to keep my flour in a good container and only buy small amounts that I will use up quickly. Puts you right off doesn't it

It says they're pests on the link - I suppose that just means that they're just a little unpleasant to encounter in one's flour? They're not harmful though, are they?

I found something similar is a box of semolina a few years ago, it looked like they were having a party in there! I try and keep flour etc in metal tins. My aunt was plagued by them a few years ago, a brand new house/kitchen and the got into everything!

We had them once and the flour was kept in a Tupperware container. Question.... How do they get there?

We had them once and the flour was kept in a Tupperware container. Question.... How do they get there? Could they sneak in wearing little 'snow terrain' camaflauge capes, like the SAS do? I did see an episode of Robin Hood where they sneaked into the castle at Nottingham in the straw on the back of a wagon. Or are their any holes underneath? They may well be drilling in. Does the tupperware container have it's own air conditioning? A/C ducts are a popular point of entry. Could it be an inside job? Do you trust everyone you live with implicitly?

Forget the Robin Hood scenario - I think it will lead you down the wrong track - sorry

We had them once and the flour was kept in a Tupperware container. Question.... How do they get there? They arrive as eggs in the flour Keith, can't remember now how long it takes them to hatch, but it's quite a while. Which means they could be in every packet of flour we buy, but we only see them if we don't use up the flour quickly - shudder the thought! Is that right? No wonder this country gets so many stomach problems!

You will get them all the time The witch that is why I only now buy small bags of flour! as you said they are in the flour and hatch in the warmth, but Ive found them in icing sugar in fact anything that you put back into your cupboard in a packet once opened. Years ago I wrote to the flour Company and of course they said I need to make sure my cupboards are cleaned regulaly Cheecky Bs Anything so they dont have to admit they come in their flour. Its quite common as youve gathered by others and I asked family and they All had had the problem some time or other. I must admit though I needed the flour once when I was stuck I sived it a couple of times and used it! didnt tell them though Im sure it was a Christmas cake.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. I think the weevils came from whole grain rice which was well out of date I kept noticing little beetle like things in the lights. Then on windowsills etc. When I discovered the source, they had burrowed into the refill packs of herbs that hadn't been opened. Everything in that cupboard was binned (apart from tins) I chuck out anything over date now ;D

[/IMG] i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/The witch-in-Norfolk/Bits%20and%20bobs2/Weevil1.jpg[/IMG] This is a first for me - found zillions of them living in my SR flour container - I don't use SR very often, so it was probably well out of date, but .... Cleaned the cupboard out, got my saucepans in that cupboard now and the four where I used to keep the pans - can't be too careful. www.kendall-bioresearch.co.uk/domest.htm#flour
Well would you Adam and Eve it - found more of these little critters in my SR flour on Saturday, BeRo flour btw - gone back to using Homepride flour, never ever found critters in their flour
Get away with you! You can't fool me - they are close up photos of the moon, and they are native moon creatures - lunacites. Sometime I think you don't credit us with the sense we were born with

I have a new camera, and am dying to take a photo of the full moon on a clear night and see how much detail I can get when enlarging it ;D
