Does anyone use these please? I wondered if anyone could recommend one with a nice scent, the more overwheming the better. There are people renting the house next door, while the owner is trying to find a buyer for it, and we are on top of each other as it is, but they smoke out in their courtyard, I suppose instead of their house not to make it smell and it's really strong. I'm not knocking people smoking,at all, but yuk when you don't smoke yourself it's horrible! The people the other side of us who have a massive garden smoke right outside their back door too - it comes into our house sometimes. Each to their own but I wondered if anyone could recommend a good long lasting pungent candle to mask the smokey smell. - I'm envisaging the candles you see in the GC on sticks/poles. I have posted this in the right place I think

I have posted this in the right place I think I use scented candles and plump for vanilla. The Yankee Candles are very good - last a very long time and you can get lamp-shades that fit on top of the jars which make them a nice feature. www.yankeecandle.co.uk/products.asp?cat=14 www.yankeecandle.co.uk/Collections.asp

Wow thanks The witch, there has to be something amongst all those! I think these neighbours have been told not to smoke indoors, as their landlord is trying to sell the house, but I think they must be really heavy smokers and spend nearly all day out in their courtyard which is adjacent to our courtyard, I know we're lucky having a garden too - they don't, but everything and everybody are just too close to have them puffing away all day like that.I'd even go as far to say that we're passively smoking their fags it's that close! Thanks again.

I always really like the idea of scented candles but sadly I've never come across one that either didn't smell really artificial or make my chest hurt. We 'll have to stick with essence of 'dog' unfortunately....... We do burn incense sticks and cones though - would they work outside?

I lit up 3 incense sticks at the same time yesterday, but poof! and they were right down to the end. Maybe these people aren't staying very long but that house for us is jinxed, nobody's ever owned and lived in it as owner-occupier since we've lived here and whoever's in there just doesn't care about anyone else and they're never friendly. Come the lottery that house is the first thing we'll buy - there it is, up for sale and nobody else wants it....... How long do cones last?

Which one makes the better missile for hurling over a 6ft wall? Fir cones are easier to throw, but traffic cones will have a greater impact ;D Bad as that, eh?

The large Yankee candles last about 4 days continuously lit I think. They are big.

Have you thought about using a large electric fan to blow the smoke back from whence it came? It'd have to be huge - and it would be on from 0700 until their bedtime every day! ;D

Well I never! They've GONE! I noticed that their car wasn't there this morning and then OH texted me and confirmed it - GONE! They must have rented it for a week or so as a holiday let. They must be back home now puffing away over somebody else's washing. But thanks for all the candle tips, they are really good sites.
