Where I work, every year we have ants making a nest under the block paving in the courtyard, The ants work hard to excavate their home and then march along a defined route to some destination. I have noticed that if you swipe your finger across that path they are confused and reluctant to cross it. The action disorientates them for 3 or 4 minutes until they re-establish a connection between the two sides. This is even when no noticable debris is disturbed. I wonder if they leave a scent marking? It is interesting to watch them resolve the puzzle.

Well I never! That's amazing isn't it? Truth to tell, the world is stuffed with incredibly intelligent creatures is it not? I personally believe that we are ruled by Insects anyway, if we did but know it. They let us believe we're Top of the Tree but actually.....we're just their workers and pets really.....

Well I never! That's amazing isn't it? Truth to tell, the world is stuffed with incredibly intelligent creatures is it not? I personally believe that we are ruled by Insects anyway, if we did but know it. They let us believe we're Top of the Tree but actually.....we're just their workers and pets really..... .......and their food!  They are really fascinating creatures aren't they? I wonder if the original chemical trail is washed away by rain or time or whether it's made of stronger stuff. |
