Sorry no pictures, but we had our first potatoes from our first container at the weekend. They do taste so much better fresh, don't they? These were really fresh as well, straight from the soil, washed and enough for us four went into the pan! There were a few really small ones and wondered whether I could have re-planted them to grow on?? Got two more containers, the next one should be soon ready, but the maincrop one, still has a way to go.

I don't know about replanting the small ones but what kind are your potatoes Keith? I've got a few things going on in containers but I haven't started on spuds yet. You sounds as if you're having a big success with your ones. Is that it with the first container now, or are there more to come?

Here are some pictures of how they are now. The ones we harvested were Nadine. You can see where the other planter was!!

I've been reading about someone who tried it with Nicola potatoes, they take around 13 weeks. This lady planted them in one of those pop up garden waste bags and put 3 tubers in each. She also gave them a feed with some lawn feed.

I'm going to mark that on the calendar - great tip! One's own spuds for Christmas dinner must be lovely.

They look great! Did you make the containers or buy them like that? Bought them like that (as a set of three) from a nursery just down from us, on the A1. The gentleman there was so helpful, as he also sold the seed potatoes as well.

No, but it was roughly two medium sized, bowl's worth! They sort of went straight from the soil, cleaned and into the saucepan, because we were close to dinner time! Next time, we will be more with it!! ;D

Wow Keith, they look great! They're left from the first container? Yes, we had two containers like that one and a smaller one for the really little ones, that could have been left to grow further, if we had known. I wonder whether we should have put two potatoes to each bag, but the gentleman said, three would be OK. It hasn't affected the taste though! If we use them again, might experiment with numbers. All the bags have three in them. Hopefully next year, I will have my little veg area to do potatoes properly. Still could use the bags though, just get more potatoes then!

They are lovely aren't they ;D I grew 1st earlies (Rocket) in containers and sacks for the first time this year. I staggered the planting from early March, until end of April (Early pots in greenhouse) We had 7 sowings and have one left. I will definitely do it again ;D

Here you are, some of the potatoes that are left!! Wonderful Keith - do you put real butter on them too, and cook them with home grown mint? Yum yum You'll have to ask Jennifer, but we don't have butter, just Stork margarine. I think she used mint in with them, she's going through a herby stage atm. Hope it lasts tbh!

Yep, at least three different kinds!! One garden we had many years ago had the best mint ever imo, I took a cutting from it - the mint I'm growing now, in a container is from the original plant, but I've no idea which variety it is. Sounds like that weigela I have in my garden. It's a cutting from a cutting from a cutting....... from the first cutting I ever took! I think you get my drift. I have even taken a cutting this year, just in case!! Well I am mad on plants!! ;D
