I've ben busy repotting the cacti which means sore hands - most of the succulents have been done. Quite a lot to do but I aim to have them all done by next spring. Concentrating on S. American cacti at present.
This year's seedlings are OK but I've lost some Avonias.
The Stapeliads look good and were treated with fungicide last week.
Aloes are coming on well.
There you go....

Too many to tell although the main cactus flowering season is over.
A first for me was Pachypodium succulentum.
The Stapeliads look good and will get better over the next 3 months.
Haworthias and Gasterias should be left dry now until September btw.

My news is that the Huervia zebrina you sent me Mick, has finally decided to look as if it's alive and has sprouted and one of the little bits I took off has made roots! Coo.... This has marginally made up for my abject failure with the seeds and the abysmal stapeliad murder.... Also I have 3 other cacti in flower atm so my cup runneth over (although that's another story...)

At Hampton Court there were 2 cactus stands - 1 wasn't great but the other was OK and won a gold. They had the usual run of plants and some rare ones but the prices were far too rich - Pseudolithos cubiformis for example is very rare but £42 is ridiculous. I bought just one - Pelargonium longifolium. Not seen very often.

Yesterday was the cactus show at Witney, Oxford. The weather was superb, so was the pub lunch, so was the shopping in Witney according to Mrs C.
The judge thought the standard was as good as the National show (and that is as good as you can get) and I came away with 2 firsts, 4 seconds, 1 third and 1 highly commended. I was particularly delighted to get 2nd and 3rd in the Aloe class (unrestricted pot size).
One of the best days of the year all round.
