I thought I had a thread on these, maybe it was in the visiting the garden thread. Anyway, you have all seen this pic. But yesterday I had two more, this is one of them, the other flew off the nyger seed feeder, when I got the camera ready. This one seemed more 'used to people'! First young goldfinches I have seen, I think!!

Only seen one baby since! Don't worry Keith - they are probably feeding somewhere else. I don't know. Jennifer said she saw the two adults on the feeders this morning and one baby was attempting the teasels I have growing nearby!

I saw 5, yes five, goldfinches at the same time on the feeders this morning. I even watched one that went onto the teasels, as there wasn't room on the nyger seed feeder for all five of them. It was a shame though, that when I got the camera through, they flew away. They have been back since, so I will try again for a shot of them all together.

Brilliant photographs Keith...I love Goldfinches. Not only are they beautiful but they also have such a cheerful tweety song

Lovely photo's Keith. Wish we could have bird feeders but with 4 cats and neighbours cats it just wouldn't be fair. Mind they all seem to enjoy the holly trees, shame I can't see them properly though :sad Good luck with taking a photo of all 5.

How lovely to have goldfinches in your garden Keith, a great photos too. But ditto Ali - having cats it's best they stay away from our garden or stick to where they're out of reach.

When I was a kid, we had a cat, two if you count our neighbour's, as he was out so much, and yet we fed the birds. If you have a lot of birds, they quite often act as sentries, when predators are about and don't forget bells on collars for all cats. The best thing you can do is, keep your cat/s in at night, as late evening/early morning is when the birds eat most of their food. Though I do understand, how you feel.
