Hello all, just to let you know that I have posted my latest update, it includes some information on the problem of manure being contaminated with a herbicide which is affecting allotments up and down the UK, I hope this is not as serious as it appears to be, regards Steve. www.myallotments.com

Thanks Steve - as interesting as ever. I've been away for 2 weeks at GWLive and come back to a wreck of a veggie garden.. horrendous how quickly the weeds appear isn't it? But the crops still ripen despite them fortunately! I am, sadly, not in the least surprised about the pesticide in the manure - we are all of us soaked in all sorts of stuff if we did but know it IMO, from our food chain and from the awful stuff we are encouraged to clean our houses with to the vile chemicals that we encounter every day from all sorts of sources. It's a problem which is only just being acknowledged I fear.... I keep pygmy goats and their muck is the only fertiliser I put on my garden - and I can't afford organic food for them so no doubt there is still a certain amount of unpleasant residue from them too. Plus we have our own borehole and waste disposal system but surrounded by farm land we're still subjected to sprays etc. I believe these things will come back to haunt us for generations to come. Well, that's depressing first thing in the morning, isn't it......? ;D You can always rely on 4P to be bring you down....just call me Eeyore......
