I have a new apple tree (really?) and it's flowering! It's called 'Croquella' and is on dwarf root stock (dunno which..no info) I'm hoping that it will fruit but have no experience of growing apples so it will be an adventure ;D I also have a teeny apple 'twig' Braeburn bought from Wilkinsons a few months ago...I dunno if it will be big enough to do much this year...or even if it will ever produce fruit...most braeburn apples that I buy in the shops are from NZ.

Braeburn is a variety that originated in New Zealand and if you buy them in the shops there is a good chance they may have come from a Gisborne orchard. We buy them direct from the grower and they are good eating. Your twig will probably take two or three years to bear fruit, so don't chuck it out just yet!

The variety you have bought is self-fertile. Its a good choice for a small garden too! Well done Cheery ;D

Have you got much fruit on your apple tree Keith? Ours was smothered, but we lost quite a few to 'June Drop'...still got over a dozen on our tiny tree, and they're getting quite big already. We're sposed to harvest them in September...I'm soooooo looking forward to eating apples we've grown ourselves.

What's "June Drop" Cheery? It's just Mother Nature's way of thinning a heavy crop The witch...there were about 35 small apples on my tree, many of them only about a1/2 inch across, but since then about a third of these tiny ones have fallen off and the remainder are bulking up nicely. ;D

We have a few left, but where we put it for this year, it got a few tennis balls it's way, so only have about three left, I think.
