We have our first pair of swallows here! We saw them diving in and out of Mum's garage window yesterday (she keeps a small panel empty so they have a safe entrance). I can hear them twittering outside as I type - it's lovely! Feels like Spring is really here now I haven't heard the cuckoos yet though - but I haven't been outside as much as usual I suppose. I love to hear them - once they start they are really noisy

How lovely - we have to make do with the two psycho pigeons squabbling in the tree next door. ;D

I say 99%, because the said bird, was on my back fence for about 5 seconds, before it flew off. Swifts don't normally perch, but it was all I could think the bird was and you know, normally that is, I am quite good with my birds!! I'll keep a look out for swallows though and other summer migrants.

We certainly don't get anything like as many as we used to.
25 years ago we always had house martins nesting but it's many years since I've seen them.
Woodpeckers have been busy for some weeks though.
I keep looking out for Kingfishers on the river but didn't see any last year. They are so beautiful.
