The crocuses I bought a while ago (75 of them ) from B&Q haven recently been coming up and they're all very pretty. But they only have to be in flower for a day or so and then the flower stems flop over at ground level. Is this normal or does it mean I have a 'nibbler' tucking into the stems and making them go over? Or does it mean I haven't planted them deep enough, but I'm sure the depth was OK at planting time. Or maybe the wind? It's such a shame!

Crocuses are always a bit of a disappointment for me, Debbie - they do the very same thing most years. I dunno if it's any of the things you mention or possibly all of them! Also are you sure they are getting enough water? We've had some very hot daytime sunshine followed by some very cold nights up here which I think might have affected mine. The Grape Hyacinths are doing much better - planted only a few feet away too :

Thanks 4P - I think they've had enough water as whether they're in pots or in the ground the same thing happens but it DOES seem to happen to more of the ones planted in the ground so you could be right. Like you say it could be a bit of each..... My Grape Hyacinths aren't up to much at all and I think the reason for that IS the soil where they're planted which is quite dry so you could be on to something there.
