Just wondering if anyone has had any responce from signing up for the campagne. Ive had an Email from IFAW thanking me for my support and for sending a letter to my MP. Ive also received a letter from my MP this morning saying that she is backing the campagne and is going to send letters to the people that need to do something, She is also going to keep me informed of any progress.

Hooray for Green Peace!Their boats have been following the Japanese whale hunters in Australian waters and driven them out of the hunting grounds! The Japanese don't recognize these as Australian waters and are complaining they are being harassed. Boo hoo! I think the ships that are hunting whales should be torpedoed and sunk.

A cheer went up in our house when we heard the news. Well done to them. Apparently there are also other organisations following them to try and halt it. There is a BBC reporter on board the Greenpeace ship and I think he may have a blog on their site.

That's great, Karen. I've had constant updates from IFAW about this issue and many others and also a letter from my local MP, about a week ago, saying pretty much the same as your one, that he is going to pass the letter on to David Miliband.

Did you see the absolutely disgraceful footage of the mother whale and her baby being harpooned on the news tonight? It was totally barbaric. And how shameful that, if it wasn't for wonderful organisations like the WWF, Japan would be committing these outrages with no one being any the wiser? It made me cry....human beings like these are a waste of space...I despise them.

It was an Australian Customs boat that was shadowing the whaling fleet that took the pictures.
The Japanese say it was just two whales as if that makes it any better!
The Australians are considering taking legal action against them, let's hope they do and are successful!

I saw those horrible pictures on the news this morning, it was a mother and baby, how cruel, and to just flaunt the rules like that! Its a disgrace.

I haven't seen the footage but I am disgusted. Why do some humans think we are so superior to animals? And what for - money?
Roan, we may not hear the outcome of the Australians taking legal action over here, but I hope they are successful.

Roan, we may not hear the outcome of the Australians taking legal action over here, but I hope they are successful. You don't want to either! I was horrified. This is one reason one of my favourite films is Star Trek 4, where that probe comes to talk to the humpbacked whales, but none exist, as man has wiped them out! They have to go back in time to get a couple, in order to stop the probe. It makes you think. I know it's only Science Fiction, but could it end up being fact? Maybe not the going back in time bit, but anything is possible! Keith

This is causing all kinds of friction between them and other nations - when's the penny going to drop? Ok it's part of their tradition - so what?
