Um, there is a LOT we don't know about Keith.....I try not to sound too paranoid but the news we are fed is definitely censored IMO. If you listen to the radio news very very early in the morning, it is quite different to the news later on in the day which in itself is quite interesting I think. And as we are now a global community, a community run by a few mega powerful institutions and corporations, there is much less freedom of speech than we are led to believe...I sound like that David Icke, don't I? This is why I believe passionately that the Internet is a Good Thing (and why sooo many of our newspapers are full of such bland, mindless pappy twaddle). Sorry, got sidetracked! I remain convinced that GM food is about profit, domination and control and nothing to do with feeding the world......

I've just been reading my February Organic Gardening magazine and there is a snippet on the News page about GM food - "A research paper published by the Soil Association on 16 November says that 'studies on GM fed livestock are finding horrendous effects, including lesions on the gut, toxic effects in body organs, unexplained deaths and stunted growth in the offspring.' The SA says this raises concerns about the long-term health impacts on humans consuming products from GM fed animals. This includes nearly all the milk, dairy products and pork sold in UK supermarkets." Bit scary I thought.......

Keith Perhaps we all need to become vegetarians, just eating what we produce in our own gardens and maybe keeping a cow for milk or perhaps a goat as I have heard that goat's milk is better for you.

I was listening to the news today about the protesters at Parliament. I hear the PM say that they have to learn that decisions must be made IN Parliament, and not on the roof of Parliament. And I thought, well, if Parliament actually listened to the views of the people as they are supposed to and didn't ramp up construction of airports, didn't plant acres of GM seeds, didn't lock up citizens without charge, didn't lose confidential data on huge scales, didn't push through surveilence legislation that breaches human rights, didn't take our country to war on the basis of lies, didn't steal from us in obscene petrol taxes... well, I am sure there would be no need for protesters to express their discontent in these ways

You don't have to become a vegetarian to avoid GM food - you have to buy organic, as only organic standards are a guarantee of GM free food right from the soil upwards.....I know it is expensive but that's because it more closely equates to the actual cost of production. If everyone bought even a little bit more it would make no end of difference to the organic farmers. I always buy organic milk if I can, for example, as I believe the welfare standards in organic dairy milk herds are far higher. I try to make sure a proportion of the food I buy every week is organic. I can't afford to buy everything though. And I always complain at the supermarket if the organic food is badly displayed or hard to find . Every little moan/purchase helps! ;D

Quite right! Hear hear! You got my vote Sleepy. It's a tragedy and a disgrace in about equal proportions......and this is, supposedly, a socialist government!
