I love knitting in the dark winter nights The witch, I used to knit for my children and grandchildren but wool is very expensive now and as they get bigger they wont wear hand knits. the last one I knit with a picture on the front was a Beatrix Potter pic of a mouse reading a newspaper but it was a bit big and it was abut 2 years before it fit my grand-daughter !! I tend to knit on the large side.

I wish I could knit! My dads OH knits some lovely things for my two kids, Holly had a poncho and berret to match. And a really nice winter dress that looks very french with her black polo underneth. Louis had a really funky surf doode type jumper, but he wont wear it, I think its too itchy for him. My Mom has showed me how to knit so many times but i'm just no good I learnt how to crochet once I sat doing it all afternoon, then somebody knocked the door, I got up to answer and when I sat back down again, i'd completly forgotten how to do it!

My Mum was a demon knittist....she could knit really fast, talk, cook a meal for 10 people, change a baby's nappy and wallpaper 3 rooms all at the same time without pausing for breath...I miss my Mum....
I've kept a teeny-tiny cardigan she made for Matt when he was born (eldest son)...he was a low birth weight and nothing fitted him...except for Ma's knitting...she made up her own patterns and used really lovely wool in glorious colours...none of your powder blue or lemon yellow...tiny stitches as well...who needs Kafe Facet? I knitted a scarf once, well, it was a scarf when I started. It kept getting wider, and wider! When I had finished (run out of wool) it was a blanket! I was in a shared ward in hospital bored and in my opinion not poorly any more, and it was chilly, my scarf blanket kept me warm, when I got home my mum and I took it apart and she knitted jumpers out of the wool. Like Cheerys mum she was brilliant at multitasking.

Have a look at this link - www.peanutgallery.com.au/catalogue/category322/category323/product2413I did as a child it was marketed as a toy, but my mum showed me how to make the bobbin with a cotton reel and some headless nails, it was fun! We all had one and we used up mums odds and ends of wool making coasters etc.

No I don't know anyone expecting babies at the moment, and I don't think my knitting is good enough to make complicated stuff. And I'm not a cardigan/jumper person. I'll have a knitting pattern for a clown though please Sleepy

I don't see the point of egg cosies - don't you eat the egg straight away, while it's hot?
