Anyone who has been to the centre of Birmingham has difficulty understanding the claim that these birds are rare. They flock around the open air markets and the cafes, and are frequently seen as a pest, I dont think so btw, and I love to see their aerobatics. I was on the lottie on saturday and they were not shy at all about picking over areas I had just dug, and the song was most welcome at dusk ;D

We rarely see them here but M&D have a couple that visit their garden.

Song thrushes are on the endangered list for Britain, so don't think they were song thrushes. Starlings can imitate other birds, by the way, they are great mimics. Could they have been young starlings, as they are more brownish? Keith Edit.. Just found this is it similar? www.javajane.co.uk/animal/birds/baby_starling_1.jpg

The birds in the centre of Birmingham flock in the thousands`. Thrushes don't flock like that as far as i understand. It's like suggesting flocks of thousands of Robins - it just doesn't happen. Sorry Sweetie - but I am open to being proved wrong
