Excuse the shocking photo but I spotted this exquisite creature on my Guelder Rose this afternoon - anyone know what it is? It's head is orange and there are some orange spots on its wings as well as the white ones.

Believe it or not I was a dab hand with my SLR camera - but this digital is a cheapie and it refuses to focus close up.

I think its a Scarlet Tiger, thanks to a brilliant website called UK Moths. Its lovely Mrs B but leopard rather than tiger would be more appropriate wouldn't it or polka dot? you are about the same with the camera when I press the button it bounces. ;D

Thanks maggyd - it's the photo that makes the dots look so huge, I took four and they were all just as bad as each other! I'm a bad workman on this occasion - I blame the camera and not me!
