It seems very odd to me for an caterpillar to be this colour, hardly a survival trait?

I've seen quite a few of them in my garden this year too Sweetleaf. There are absolutely loads of green caterpillars and generally they seem to be of small butterflies like Skippers, Meadow Browns and Heaths. I'm always reluctant to destroy caterpillers because although they munch plants, they produce insects that are suffering from their natural habitat being destroyed and we should be encouraging them. Sorry - I didn't mean to lecture!!! ;D

Looking at the website The witch found, to me the nearest match does seem to be a Small Skipper or Meadow Brown. Looks very juicy!!!

I didnt kill it, I allowed it to go on its way after its photo! I only kill slugs and rats, and Id much prefer not to have to do that. : Slugs die happy, drunk on flat beer.
