I've just been enjoying the sunshine in the garden, and have spotted LOADS of ladybirds:

I remember (years ago), this happened after a mild winter, they are simply responding to the increased food source as the insects they feed on have also got off to an early start. I just hope next weeks cold snap will not ruin it for them.

I thought this was so cute! Why they chose a dead leaf though, rather than a nice lush one I've no idea!!!

They really can be good for the garden, can't they? I found one on a poppy and transfered it to an aphid infested rose bud and when I went back later it only had one or two left to eat, but it wasn't that much bigger! Does it eat then poo like crazy!! Wish I had taken an after shot, but batteries needed charging! Keith

I kept those 5/6 roses, just for this year, now I know why, to feed the ladybirds!!! Keith
