Just been thinking, like you do, what non native wildlife would you like to see in your country. After seeing C3D's photos, it got me thinking! Forget about whether they could actually survive in your country, just what would you like to see? I thought about quite a few things, carpet pythons to deal with our rat problems, kangaroos, but would hate to see them dead on the road, but came down to a bird of paradise.Keith |

When I lived in Bedfordshire you could see wallabies about sometimes - escapees from Whipsnade Zoo! Very odd.....
I'd quite like to see giraffes swaying majestically across the Fens.........but carpet pythons? Eeek, I think we'd better leave the rats to RATBUMS...

You say that they might not survive but take note of the parakeets that are now flocking throughout SE England. I remember the first time mum saw one out of the kitchen window (probably about 20 years ago now) and dad thought she was drunk!!!!! I'm going to have to have a careful think about this. I like the balance of things (well sort of balance) in this country and really don't like nature to be upset too much. One thing that always sounds incredibly cute when mum talks about them (she's seen them in Oz) are Echidnas - I could probably live with them foraging about  And tree frogs are gorgeous, if a tad creepy when they leap onto a window as you are looking out of it  I'd be happy with just a hedgehog though |

They are romantic, but thugs too - if another male is nesting nearby they'll destroy the rival home and steal all the decorations!!! |
