Has anyone ever sown any native trees seeds successfully? I sowed Rowan, Beech, Spindle and Yew last Autumn and absolutely nothing has happened yet! They've been in trays outside all winter....

I haven't! Some b*****d creature carefully removed all the acorns I sowed last Autumn. Lovely neat holes in all the pots.......ah well, I expect they needed them more than I did.

I sowed some birch seeds last year but nothing's happened yet. I'm very successful with sycamore seeds though ;D

Well I've probably got about a million germinating in my garden 4P - want a few? ;D Just kidding - I really must get the hoover out and tidy them up, but they do seem to attract the blackbirds who love rooting around underneath them.

I have one tree planted right at the back of my garden by my Poplar row and it doesn't seem to be a problem there. I haven't been right up there for a while though........ratty ditch close by.

I have had success with silver birch in the past. Not tried much else. Got some conkers planted atm, so we will see if they come up in the spring.

I've had success with Hawthorn - and that reminds me I've got some walnuts in the freezer which need planting. ;D

Our conkers are coming through!!! First the two boys ones and then mine about a week later. They were all planted at the same time, in the same compost, in identical pots, at the same depth and put in the same part of the garden!!! Oh and obviously watered the same!! So how come mine came in last? Keith

I have 1/2doz conker trees sprouting in a wheel barrow that hasnt been emptied since the autumn, I'll stick them out alongside the motorway I think. I wish the oak at the bottom of the garden would bare fruit.

Absolutely none of my seeds have done anything although there are 2 little tiny seedlings in the Rowan pot. I shall wait and see if they turn into weeds......

I'm good at nurturing seedlings only to discover they are weeds :

I have a few of them behind the pond, The witch. My excuse is, the bees love them, so I will wait until they stop flowering or have gone onto something else!!
