Mine was a white rabbit called Samantha Star! I painted her name on the hutch with nail varnish, she was the most cuddly little bunny ever, my brother had a male rabbit who went through so many names before he was re-homed for being aggressive that I cant remember what his name was, he gave my Sammy a hard time, such a bully! Actually I was so young, perhaps what I remember as fighting was something else entirely? What was your first pet?

We had lots of pet dogs when I was young, but the first pet I could really call my own was a persian cat named Moshi. I still have a picture somewhere!

Our first pet was a curly coated Border Terrier called Lassie. She was from the Woburn Abbey estate cos my Grandad had been a gamekeeper there and I loved her totally. The poor thing got dressed up, pushed about in a pram and generally mistreated but she was as good as gold. I was broken hearted when she died..... as a total contrast our next dog a while later was a rather large Great Dane cross called Sabre. Mad as a badger and the bane of my Mum's life as she regularly lost him over on the common land called The Firs when she walked him. He always came home though......we all loved him. The big old lump, he just loved winding Mum up ;D None of us ever had rabbits etc - they were regarded as pests or food I suppose.......with my Grandad being a gamekeeper, then a farmer....could this be the source of my extreme hatred for the rodent hordes?? My Grandad knew EVERTHING!

My first pet was a small black and white dog (bitch) named Penny. We all (family of 6) adored her, and it broke our hearts when she passed away. She dominated our childhood.

My first pet was a black poodle, Mimi, I was 2 years old - she was known as the market dog as my brothers used to tell me they bought her from the market!. She was spoilt rotten! She was 13 when she died.

I cant remember if my first pet was jinksy and winksey the goldfish (who were replaced with two pieces of carrot, when one got boiled and one went down the plug hole. I never noticed apparently : ) Or Cindy the honey colored mongrel with a pink nose. I was told I'd left the gate open, I don't know if I did or not, I must have been 4 or 5, but she got out and was run over The best pet we ever had was a Scottish border collie called Ben, he was great, he used to heard up the cat ;D He was put to sleep the same week I met Sean.

I'm not sure who came first between our Budgie called Joey or our cat called Sandy. I remember Sandy arriving home with my Dad, who'd brought him back with him from Wales on the back of his motor bike. When Sandy was let out of the box he tore around the kitchen and me being very young took fright and knocked over the kitchen stool which landed on Sandy's tail. His tail always had that kink in it, according to my Mum. We were all devastated when he died nine years later.

First pet was here before me! My parents bought the house in which we still live one month before I was born. There was a brown tiger and white kitten "free" with the house. My parents always joked they bought the kitten and got the home with him.
Kitten's name was Moorchick. I guess that's how you'd spell it. It is Ukrainian for "Little one purring."
A month after I was born my Father got a German Shepherd puppy for my Mom. She had said the reason she married him was he promised her a German Shepherd. Six years into the marriage was long enough. LOL! His name was Shakespeare.
There never was a doubt what I'd become, ehh? ;D

I bought the children gerbils, hamsters and we took in some guinea pigs...but although I had to clean them and feed them...they weren't mine... MY first pet was a kitten called Freddy (after Freddy Mercury)...OH had just gone to work abroad and a friend who was a veterinary nurse turned up on my doorstep with her... ;D Freddy was black with a white bib and paws...big and fluffy and very fierce with everybody else.....She would purr and drool on my shoulder when I carried her around. I adored her...and it broke my heart when she died of septicaemia after an abscess operation....(when she was 13)
