We found this chick in the aviary last Friday. We had suspected the Cockateils were ~up to something~. Now we know! ;D Kinda looks like a young Billy Idol. LOL!

What a lovely surprise! Was that the first time his/her parents showed him off? He's nice and feathery, as if they've been looking after him in secret for a while.

I don't know how old he is. With all the other real life stuff around here we thought the birds were nesting but didn't really dwell on it. The male and female took turns being missing as they sat on the nest. Then one of the Green-cheeked Conures bit the male in the leg and broke it! But that's yet another long story.... Then Mike needed knee surgery ... Another story.... : The Mom bird is looking after the baby while Dad recovers from his broken leg. The birds are inside safe and warm. They just look outside at the snow. He's all yours Goth if you want him. We'll even name him Sleepy. ;D

I would guess Sleepy is about 3-4 weeks old. I'm not sure when they start flying. He isn't yet. He looks a bit scruffy because the feathers are still coming in ... plus a crappy pic. LOL! He's about 1/2 the size of Mom. Here's Dad, with his splinted leg.

I had a mental picture of a cockatoo, in a brown check dressing gown, sitting on an armchair with his leg on a stool ;D cruthes somewhere close by! ;D

LOL! Aside from being a Cockatoo, you described my OH fairly accurately as he continues to recover from his knee surgery. ;D

Gosh, they do make a difference! I didn't realise he would 'grow' so quickly (I've never kept birds). He doesn't look quite so 'surprised' know! Bless, he's gorgeous.
