This morning when I got up and opened the curtains I didn't here the usual welcome chirrup, I turned around to find my beautiful budgie Billy had passed away in the night. He'd been very quiet since the earthquake, so i think that had a lot to do with it.
We know he was asleep, because he'd tucked his head around backwards as they do when they sleep and he had his eyes closed, so that was a small comfort.
He never talked, but he was the most tame budgie I have ever known, you could just put your hand in and pick him out, he used to sit on my shoulder tucked under my chin.
He was a lavender violet colour with a pure white head and wings so to look at he was very stunning.
We buried him by the bird table in the backgarden so he will have some company.
He will be sorely missed by all of us.

That's so sad for you Debi. I am so sorry. He seems to have died very peacefully though, if that can be any comfort to you. XXX

I just googled to find out and it said that most budgies only live about 5 years so I think you must have looked after him very well and he died happy and contented of old age. You can't really do any better than that, can you? X

OH Im sorry to hear that debbie I know you can get very attatched to the little things, we have had a couple when the children were small and they are funny little things and very intellegent, its good that he died peacefully though our last one died after we had been decorating and I felt so guilty not moving him into a bedroom or somewhere I think the fumes of the paint must have killed him

Sorry to hear this Debi, you'll miss his mini cockatoo impersonations, but you gave him a good home and he must've trusted you to be so tame

We had one break it's neck in the cage at work! It was horible it'd got it's wings splayed out and it's head back and beak open. It really was awful!
If it was emulsion it shouldn't really have done much.

So sorry to hear your sad news, although it was nice that he passed away in his sleep. Really neat that you will have him buried by the bird bath so that he always has company.
Will you be getting another one?

I'm not sure whether we will get another yet, as the hens are arriving next weekend.

So sorry Debidoos, a handsome budgie. A thoughtful idea to bury him by the bird table for company.
