I bet he was ever so pleased with himself. Is this what we have to look forward to? You are quite right, he was overly chuffed. When I got out of bed to inspect his kill he picked it up and trotted down stairs with it, put it in the middle of the hall and lay very grandly next to it with the most smug 'I caught that' look on his face.

I used to do that when I'd shot a rat but I got really muddy and it hurt my back getting up so I don't bother now.....

My cat Priya catches woodmice on a regular basis...she usually eats them all up (ew) but occasionally OH or I have rescued the critters before the death blow and released them to live on...
It's coming up to the time of year when we have to shut Priya indoors when we're not at home..she's a fierce predator and we have to give the baby birds a fighting chance.
As it is she stays indoors at night, we have a lot of cats about so if we leave the cat flap open they all come in and eat Priya's food (and spray everywhere)

I think I need a lend of Merlin Sleepy for some reason we have had an Owl perched on one of the tree,s at 3.00am when O.H has been up and opened the curtains! and eveytime we have been out we come back to a cat sat just outside our garden fence just stareing into our garden. ;D Unless he likes Teddy there is only one other reason I can think why he is always there.

It could be voles, or baby moles, or you just have a garden that is asthetically pleasing to some owls and cats ;D

I took this this morning. Now, I bought the dome bed for Bo a month ago. Merlin got in straight away, but Bo, although he looked longingly at it, kept out. Merlin's interest was only occasional, but about a week ago Bo got in and curled up. For the next two days he hardly came out again - in was like a pig in sh1t. Merlin passed by and just stared - jealously seething from him - but Bo was staying put. I had recently bought a new towellene dressinggown, which was on the floor not far from Bo's new Den. Merlin suddenly took to curling up on that, very close to Bo and his new home. So to placate Merlin (still looking jealous) I moved his open style bed from by the patio door to where the dressinggown was. Merlin wasn't having it. Bo had a new bed, and he didn't. He was not a happy pussy. Then I had a flash of inspitration. I covered Merlins old bed with the new dressing gown. I didn't fit me very well anyway. And now both cats are happy. Both curl up as if they are in paradise Peace reigns.

Thanks Sleepy, you've given me an idea. I'll try that with Poppy's bed - stop her lying all over ours or rather me! Mind you Merlin has a bit more room in his, Poppy's a bit small for her now.

Lovely cats. I can just picture the scenario of you being presented with the rat. My Snowy has taken to sitting on top of the dishwasher - he's in seventh Heaven when it's on. I don't know what he'll do when the dishwasher gets a worktop over it. ;D
