I mentioned this elsewhere and last night I went to Ikea (lucky, lucky me) but in the plant section they had good sized Cycas revoluta (27" from bottom of pot to tip of leaves) for £11 which seems a good bargain.
If anybody going to Kew wants me to get them one and bring it along just say.

That's a kind and heroic offer Mick, but no thanks. I best not get any more house plants. The ones I have look so poorly at the moment I feel guilty..... I went to Ikea once....oooer...........what a strange experience. I got a snazzy cheese grater though. Coo!

My cycas revoluta isn't looking very well.... I've repotted it and am coddling it in the conservatory (it was in the GH) to try and cheer it up. Should I feed it?

I think that it was prolly a mixture of too dry and too cold Mick Anyway...I did repot it and brought it into the warm...it's really perking up now.

I'm being frivolous again but isn't 'perk' a GREAT word?? ;D

We left ours in the conservatory over winter and it was too cold for it (although there is heating on) , and I didn't water it enough. Hubby has taken it in hand and it's looking a little better! It was treated the same as the other plants in there - oops, mistake!

When you think about it the Cycads at Kew are kept in the Palm House which is pretty warm. Mine are kept at about 5c which seems OK for them though. I give them the odd watering from time to time.
