My heaters are knackered and I am going to have to buy 2 new ones.
I have had them for about 5 years now (electric) and they run all year round.
The thermostat on one won't work at all and the other thermostat is very unreliable.

The thermostat on one won't work at all and the other thermostat is very unreliable. Have you ever consider a greenhouse heat sink Mick? How does the greenhouse heat sink work? Some details are in the book, but half the adventure is working out for yourself and thereby customising you solution. All you need is:
The heat sink is imploded glass - we used bottles from various parties and the local pub - imploded courtesy of Krysteline www.krysteline.net Big hole - we lined it with polystyrene that came as packaging Pipes were standard waste pipes for under sinks etc Fan was a small 12V computer fan from a market £1.20 - in a box made of scrap wood A 12V deep cycle leisure battery Small 11w solar panel and charge controller Old chimney cowl for the air to be pushed out the glass
Air sucked down from the apex heats the broken glass under the floor. Fan runs 24 hours a day. As the greenhouse cools the cooler air is still pumped through the glass, but when it comes out through the cowl, at floor level, the glass has warmed it so a constant supply of warm air is now being pumped through.Above quote from www.itsnoteasybeinggreen.org/inebg_faq.htm#greenhouse - did you watch the series? 5 years isn't bad though Mick especially if you are running them 365 days a year 24/7 That seems way too complicated for me Reet.... I'll just buy two new ones.

2 heaters ordered - I hope they get here soon.
One isn't working at all and it was very cold in the front part of the greenhouse yesterday morning - only barely above freezing.
The other one is working but very temperamental - it can switch on and then forget to switch off so it now has to do for the whole greenhouse.

Might not happen until spring because the cold temperatures weaken them.

I dont trust my heater to do the job, the porch is warm enough though, and the overflow has filled every window sill in the house! ;D

I'll be able to give them a good check over during the break.

Would fleece over them all do any good Mick? Certainly wouldn't do any harm 4P but the remaining heater should just about cope as long as that doesn't give up the ghost. If the heaters don't arrive today I'll get some fleece tomorrow and play safe. Thanks for the advice.

Serious my little treasure pot. I hadn't thought of it and it's a good idea for an emergency. I've done it before with newspaper.
