How's your bat plant doing Myrtle? Well, after seeing your latest photograph, I rushed home in anticipation! Nothing yet, but it does look healthier than the last one i.e. it hasn't lost any colour which the other one did and then went greenish! I am still on the hopeful side ;D Positive vibes and all that!

How's your bat plant doing Myrtle? - mine seems to have stopped growing, no new growth since I posted that last photo! Still sat there last time I looked (mind you that was a few days ago) - will have another peer at it tonight and let you know! I wonder why yours has stopped growing?

Ours still looks the same but had a little clue as to why yesterday - there was a certain little black & white cat sat next to it gnawing at it! Wonder how long she has been doing that

Where have you got the plant, The witch? You were/are obviously on the right lines. It's in my front porch Keith, btw this photo was taken before I got my bat plant, had the front door changed since too - i33.photobucket.com/albums/d75/The witch-in-Norfolk/Apple%20Close%20House/Frontdoor.jpg [/IMG]
But apart from all that it's the same! ;D Sorry! Anyway, mine has started to grow - I think! Well, when it arrived there was a tiny piece sticking up from where it had been cut, that piece is now about an inch tall! Fingers crossed, early days yet! Obviously Poppy gnawing it did some good after all ;D Either that or it is just stretched!

Obviously Poppy gnawing it did some good after all ;D Either that or it is just stretched! Mine grew in the same way as yours Myrtle, but seems to have stopped - I've moved it to the back of the house now! I phoned T & M at the beginning of last week and said "my bat plant isn't growning", the reply was "they are very slow starters". "Slow starters" said I, "I've had this bulb since the beginning of May". T&M lady said "cover it with cling film, which is what one of my work colleagues had done and she is a keen gardener" B "But is doesn't say cover it with cling film in the PDF file I downloaded, I was hoping it would flower this year but it hasn't even started to grow yet" I said. " Oh it won't flower this year" said the lady on the phone "if it hasn't done anything by the middle of next month then please call T&M again". Too right I will for a refund, me thinks! Could they not have put that in their description of the plant!!!

Could they not have put that in their description of the plant!!! I think they should have done Keith! : What a con. humph! Would you have bought it, if you knew you had to wait a year until it flower, though people wait, what seven years, for the Bird of Paradise plant to flower, don't they? Think I should have made that two sentences!

Well, I have one leaf - at least I think that is what it will be when it finally unfurls! Only have to over-winter it now! Have you spent your credit yet The witch?

How's your bat plant doing Myrtle? This will come as no surprise - the one and only leaf has spent a long time curled up and has now shrivelled up! Will do a closer inspection this weekend and then ring T&M again. It is in the conservatory and all my other plants in there are great, it hasn't been neglected, there is a radiator in there which takes the chill off now it has been turned on.
