They don't mention in their bumf that it could take 6-8 weeks for it to do anything, do they! : Maybe it would have been better to have bought them already grown, like the ones I saw in our local G/C about a month ago. I was tempted, I must admit. They were dark coloured ones as well. Jennifer wasn't sure if she liked them or not, the boys did! Though, going that route, spoils all the fun doesn't it? The witch, I wonder if yours will come as a small plant now we are into May, as I seem to remember the info I had said they would either come as a lamb shank looking bone (Mick's description & very close to it!) or a small plant. Keith, perhaps you will be able to obtain more growing info for us from the label in the garden centre!

Keith, perhaps you will be able to obtain more growing info for us from the label in the garden centre! Says it will come as a bareroot plant in my email confirmation Myrtle. Keith - that would be really helpful if you could Sadly and not surprisingly, that had all been sold. They were beauties, so tbh, wasn't really expecting them to be there. I could try another branch of the same G/C tomorrow or Saturday, it's not that far away, same distance actually in a different direction. Will see how Stephen feels, after his first night in a full leg plaster!!

I needed some digging in stuff anyway, so don't worry.

Ok, I wanted a bat plant last year but decided to buy one when I ordered the Egret orchid. This is what arrived a couple of weeks ago The photograph does not do it justice honest! It is about 6" long - imagine an old butternut squash really. I've planted it as per the instructions - it doesn't look any better but I will let you know how I get on! Or if it does anything! It looks like yours Myrtle. But yours has been planted for a month. Yes, but mine still looks very much the same! ;D

They don't need heat do they, as the seeds need a high temperature to germinate? Just a thought.

Has your bat plant "done" anything yet Myrtle? I've been watering mine using tap water, which probably isn't a good thing to do considering I've put in ericaceous compost. Absolutely nothing!

Give it 3 hours in the oven on a low gas then.... Brilliant! Will an electric fan oven do?

Brilliant! Will an electric fan oven do? About 120 then.... Ok, but you know looking at it, I think someone has already tried that and they've sent me the bone!

Ok, but you know looking at it, I think someone has already tried that and they've sent me the bone! You're right. There's not a lot of meat on it. Mind you, bats don't have much meat do they?

I've just telephoned T&M - it definately should have done something by now and they are going to send another one! Here's hoping that this one will grow!

Err, no, and I didn't ask It was a quick conversation, me saying it hadn't done anything and they apologised and immediately offered to send another one within the next 2-3 weeks.

Yes, but knowing my luck they have probably sold out after reducing them to half price and they are having to scour round looking for another. Or look on the bright side, they may have one that's already started growing and they are nurturing it for me? No? You don't think so - neither do I ;D

The witch, the pots the bat plants were in at the GC were quite small for the size of plant. Not sure it that helps or hinders, though!

I hope you didn't throw the first bulb you received in the compost bin Myrtle .... you just never know, it might spring into life yet! It went mushy inside! So yes it went in the compost bin! I did see some black ones at GWL - they were in flower, one stand had them priced at £15, one £20. The one chap was trying to sell a young girl one and he was saying 'you could buy a bulb for £10 but here you have a guaranteed plant......', didn't know whether to chime in or not! She did buy one.
