Right then. As you know I bought one of these at GWL, so did I do the right thing, in that it should be an easy one to look after? Label says to keep 2cm of rainwater in the saucer, is that not a bit much? Suppose not, if that is what the label says!! It says full sun and cool in winter. Will the south facing kitchen be OK for the summer? Don't have a greenhouse, yet, so what do I do with it in the winter? Any help will be gratefully accepted. Keith

I have one of these in my conservatory Keith and it really does need to stand in rainwater. It stayed there all winter and seems to have survived alright - I try and keep it just slightly above freezing in there but I've only one little heater and no thermometer so it might have dipped below sometimes! It bakes in there in the summer. I used to have a beautiful Sarracenia purpurea outside all year which lived for two years until a really soggy, very cold spell did for it... They're lovely little plants I think, strange but fascinating - good luck with yours!

Thanks 4P. Actually, Jennifer chose it, as I couldn't make my mind up!!!! Too much choice, well that was my excuse! My problem is where to put it in the winter, as we don't have a conservatory either!!

Do you have a garage with a little window maybe? I think it needs a cool period every year. Anyway, it's a long while before you have to worry about it!
I've had a fairly soggy day on the lettuce field so I think I'll turn in - say hello to Jennifer from me. Night Keith X

At our last house mine stayed in the conservatory all year, all mine insectivorous plants are now on my east facing kitchen window sill - rainwater is a must. There is loads of info on caring for them HERE Keith.

Once you've got it fixed they can stay on the window cill, but you will have to catch the water outside and water them by hand.
