I wasn't sure whether to put this query in here or under wildlife My mum has asked me to ask you this, so I hope I describe it right! She said that in her formal pond (with a pond liner at the bottom, not natural soil) has a load of little white worms in it. She says they basically congregate at the bottom of the pond in a huge group and don't really do anything unless the water is disturbed when they start wiggling about. She says they are white, and a maxinum of 2 inches long. Has anyone any ideas of what these are, and whether they are good or bad? Ta!

If they've got a wildlife pond, and everything gets in there by itself, it can't do any harm to leave them in there can it - it may interfere with the natural balance which is gently establishing itself. The tadpoles and newts, dragonfly larvae etc will take care of that wormy lot - I'd just leave them in there.

Thanks Mrs B! Actually that's a good point about the dragonflies - there are larvae in the pond so they will probably have a good munch! ;D
