I regret introducing Azolla - once you've got it you can't get rid of it - it's a floating pond plant BTW. I couldn't really choose a favourite though, as I love them all. ;D

As my "water garden" is so small I have very little in it. I'm desperate to see my little water-lily flower and hopefully this year now that the garden has been moved into the sun it will be more stimulated. And my iris hasn't ever flowered either The Thalia Delbata has been lovely though and isn't as tender as originally suggested to me, and the Houttywhatsit Chameleon is lovely but needs to be controlled! Until the water-lily flowers I can't really say what's my fave pond plant!!

It soon got cleared, but it was hard work. I introduced it to combat blanket weed, algae in the first year of the pond. That worked, though, water was clear. I do have an after shot somewhere. Just can't find it at the moment on this computer or my old one, that eldest son has. Hope I still have it and hasn't been lost. Keith

I introduced Azolla aka Fairy Moss for the same reason, when my pond was new : My fish won't eat it either, so I wish I had introduced duck weed instead, although the fish do like eating that - well mine do.

Iris 'Rosequeen' was the first iris I had and still going strong after splitting that first plant millions of times. It has been moved from house to house, quite a few times and will be again, if need be. Everyone should have Marsh Marigold, Caltha Palustris. If you have a good sized pond, then N. Attraction is a great lily. For an oxygenating plant, you can't beat Hornwort, Ceratophyllum (spelling?). There that should keep you going. Keith

Most plants are ok if containerised. But keep clear of most reeds, as they 'will' damage liners. Typha 'Minima' is OK though. Forgot to mention the lily, N. James Brydon, much better if your pond is medium sized. Everyone rants about it, even though I personally have never had it, but have seen it. My ponds have always been too deep. It also depends on what colour lily you want and planting depth, but as you see I like red ones.
