Morning Steve, What a lovely load of wood! I love it when stuff like that gets recycled - gives me a warm glow. My OH gets tons of unwanted wood from building sites - it is quite disgraceful how much perfectly good wood just gets chucked away. Last year we ran our woodburning stove virtually for nothing for a big chunk of the winter. He occasionally brings a van load home of really long lengths 4"X5" that have been dumped. Terrible waste. I started on the big clear up of my vegetable garden this weekend and planted some greens and onions - I can read about yours with a clear conscience now!

Your plot is still very productive for this time of year Steve, Im impressed. My Runner beans are still producing though, I dont think Ill be taking them down till they get frosted. I got a huge delivery of chippings for my paths and I`ve been replacing the wood on my raised beds too, Im never going to get my plots as nice as yours though.

Thank you both for your replies, it is only the early crop of Runner Beans that have finished, the crop that I sowed about a month later are still producing the same with the French Beans. Yes using the wood makes you feel better when you know that it would have only been scrapped rather than recycled as we have done, regards Steve.
