On paths it makes no odds does it? I know it has a lot of resin, it wont rot quickly.

I don't see why Leylandii would be poisonous to plants anyway when it's been chipped...it's not the roots they've chipped is it? It might, I suppose, change the PH of the soil but you'd have to put TONS down to do that, I'd have thought. I can't see the problem - but you should claim it back - pronto!

Today was the first sunny day in ages and me a Debbi went to the Lottie and really got stuck into the weeding, I'm ashamed to say plot two, after only being rotated a couple of months ago was up to our waists! Here is another shot of Debbi Hoeing! yes I said Hoeing! We got loads done with a little help from Debbi's Mom. We cleared two big pathes in the waist high weed, sprayed weed killer on most of plot two and around the paths and shed. We planted some flyaway carrots, pak-choi, corn leaf, spinach beet and radishes. Dug out the old spinach beet bed as it had gone to seed and dug up about 10 icebergs, and found homes for some of them with the other plotters. We''ve laid some tarp, in the Hope it will keep a few weeds at bay. Debi planted out some bush beans and white pumpkins and aubergines, and I planted some mixed wildflower seedlings. Got alot done but there's plenty left, I hope we have some nice weather this week. I did manage to split my trousers, well if I'm taking Jan's advice and wearing long tops so I don't get sunburn on my builders bum, I've got to find someway of exposing myself

Oh Emsey youre making me jealous! I wish I`d been there. Not only to work my plot, but to see that too As long as a top can be, it wont cover that kind of embarrassment will it? Sounds like you got plenty done, though hows my plot doing?... not plot two, I know thats a mess! Is my squash patch ok?

Most of your squashes look good sweetie like us you've had a couple disapear, Everything looks ship shape really, but your beans are falling over under the weight of its bounty, you'll have a bumper crop when you do get to the lottie OH should take you down, just for a supervised peek and harvest!

Here's some of the Pumpkins a bit small, but hopefully perfectly And here's the bounty of today! We felt like we were digging up buried tresure with the potatoes, There are also peas, some sugar snaps and the last of the broad beans. And heres a self seeded poppy!

Lovely! do be careful with the spuds this year though, they may not store well. Its best to get them eaten quickly. If there was blight they may rot off.

I've had some spuds on my dinner, along with the peas and the broad beans, they were gorgeous!!!
I'm distributing the spuds around family etc so hopefully they won't go off!

Thought I'd reawaken the tread!
We popped up today for a look to see how every thing was going.
It looked a lot better than we imagined, all the weeds had died back nicely and the soil was nice and easy to dig, the garlic was pokeing up well and the onions too!
We had a good rumage through the seeds to see if there's anything to get started.

What a nice surprise that must have been! Hope one day we'll be nicely surprised like that instead of being surprised right now by brambles, more brambles, an exhaust or two, nettles, plastic containers, etc, etc. I can't wait until the fruits of our labours start paying off like it's doing now for you two.

The allotments around here are beautifully kept...they won an award last year...there are polytunnels and GHs as well as sheds...the waiting list is really long tho...
We've decided to stick to the back garden for now...we may apply for a lottie when OH retires.....
Good luck I hope that you all continue to enjoy your plots ;D

Wish we could have a polytunnel on ours! We mentioned to the manager we would like one, and he showed us a picture in the newspaper of an allotment in another area of birmingham which had been shredded by vandals. we put the idea on the back burner after that.
We planted wildflowers at the front of the plot to make it pretty when we first arrive, we need some bark to go on the paths to keep the weeds down. to help keep it tidier.
