Gardening Tips and Reminders--for March March is the first month of spring, so there is plenty to do in the garden. For instance, in March you can start forcing summer tubers. And did you know that March is the best month to plant roses? March is an ideal time to plant both evergreen and deciduous plants, as long as the temperature does not drop below freezing every day. Never plant new plants in very wet or waterlogged soil. If there is a light frost, water new plants occasionally during the day. Transplant or divide perennials that have become too big, making sure that the roots do not dry out. If spring is early, plant summer flowering bulbs and tubers at the end of March. Start Seed sowing- in your Greenhouse or Hardy Annuals outside in the garden where they are to flower.

Thanks Biggles, just the reminders I needed! I am thinking of buying some new roses as well - would it be a good time to move one as well do you think?
According to our local weather report on Midlands Today last night, after she had told us about February, she gave a warning about next week's weather - it could be very cold, something for us gardeners to be keep an eye on. March - in like a lion perhaps this year?

Just the right time to plant those Roses if the weather stays good for us! Dont forget to sprinkle Fertilizer round the Rose plants but not touching the Stem. This will give them a good start--
