It doesn't seem that long ago that we were planning 2008....ah well. Will we have a 'proper' winter this year do you think? or will it be wet and mild again? The witch was talking about some seed she was getting and it's got me all fired up!
Vegetables for 2009.
Potatoes (Lady Crystl our favourite) we plan to grow these in the big plastic water tank and a couple of pots or compost bags.
Carrots I still have some Parmex seed left, and tenderstix, so I'll be using them up and planting Autumn King later in the summer.
Leeks I loved growing these this year, they were much tidier than the onions I grew last year...so might try more than one variety.
Sweetcorn Might grow a few plants in the flower bed ;D
Peas I will deffo grow the sugar snap ones again, and hope to get some 'Half Pint' seed for pots, and may try another variety.
Beans Made the mistake of growing little French beans this year which didn't crop as well as the big green flat jobs I grew the year before...can anyone recommend a variety of green beans? stringless preferably.
Pak Choi Would like to have a go at these
Cucumber Last year I grew 'petita' which were wonderful little plants with small, sweet fruit. I think I've got a bit of seed left. Plan to grow these in the GH.
Peppers The mini-sweet ones were rubbish so I'm planning on 1 plant only of the big ones, got some seed somewhere.
Tomatoes May well go back to 'Moneymaker'...one plant only.
Hope to also squeeze in some mooli and lettuce somewhere...
I still can't decide which flowers to grow...hopefully the perennials planted this year will perform again. ;D
What about you then?

Crikey Cheery.........I'm still trying to get through all the garden jobs for this Autumn........gotta prune the fruit trees and the hedges, dig the veggie garden, put up the trellis fencing along the top edge of the veggie garden, strim down all the nettles, weed the flower garden, move the hooge pile of bark onto the flower beds etc, empty out the girl's goat shed, muck the fruit trees.......if I get a fraction of that lot done I can start dreaming about what I'm going to plant....prolly won't though.........

Your garden's so much bigger than ours tho 4P All that's left to do in ours really is double dig the veg patch and cover it over until spring....I might have a crack at that tomorrow.

I wish I had the space so plans were necessary. The garden will probably stay exactly as it is coz there isn't room for anything new. And I will no doubt grow the same container veggies: carrots, potatoes perhaps, peppers maybe, tomatoes, runner beans.....

Your garden is Tardis like...but you'll be out there at the crack of 2009 trying to sow seeds....... Mind you I AM going to grow Morning Glory quite early next year.......it'll make me get on with the trellis fencing.......I hope.......I missed it last year....

I still can't make my mind up about plans for the front garden The past two years I have done a pink, purple, blue, cream and white colour scheme which i really love Because the busy lizzies let me down bigtime last year and the advice seems to be to give the ground a rest from them for a year I am in a bit of a quandry I could use bedding begonias but the only ones available as single colours are red, white or pink - the price is a bit much though £9.99 for just 40 plants and I need over 200 !!!! I can't stand the mixed ones which are much cheaper as you can buy small plugs for a lot less! I have seen white ones for a reasonable price I love using Cosmos, White Marguerites.Heliotrope,Prism Sunshine Petunias and Salvia 'Summer Skies. Shall I go for a white, purple, blue, lemon scheme??? Most of my Fuchsias are pink or purple and these would be in the majority of the tubs ,baskets etc. I just don't know !!!!! All being well we are opening for the NGS again in the Summer so the garden has to look good! Two veggies I was really impressed with were 'Hunter' climbing french beans - they look like wavy runner beans andcourgette 'Orelia' - a brilliant cropper! I won't be growing 'Diamond Aubergines again though - very disappointed in them! I will have to find some 'Dusky' from somewhere! 'Joe's Long' chillies were very good!I will be growing them again! Most of the veggies were brilliant ;D Sweetcorn,Fennel,Runner Beans,French beans,Courgettes etc.etc. so will stick to the same varieties I always keep the seed packets until I have made my next year's order - just to remind me! Will stop prattling on now

Whatever you do it will look glorious! You could always divide it up into different colour combinations....deep purple and lemon, or pink and white, or pick a theme colour and put it with all the others in different stripes....I don't know why I'm saying anything anyway - you are the expert! I mentioned on another thread that I had bought some very cheap but well grown box hedging. I heeled them in a line in a bit of the vegetable garden and really liked the effect. I went back and bought some more today to 'heel' a line in further up.....stop me someone...I can't keep up with the pruning anyway! And I bought another 2 pots of Rhubarb.....£2 a pot instead of £6......I do love a bargain....sigh I must not go into a plant place until at least February...I have too much digging to do...

I had a cunning plan to create some shade for a spinach bed by planting Jerusalem Artichokes but I've heeled the Box hedging in there....muppet! I shall have a nice time re-planning it all though... Do you use those little hand held clipping shears, Cheery? Every time I've used them I've ended up with lots of little cuts on the side of my hand.....I can't the hang of them at all
