You haven't got a sneaky leaf roller in there or two, have you?

Don't be insulted The witch! But are you sure it's just not too dry? If not, is it in a windy spot because Bay is prone to wind damage....... Have you checked in the pot for any nasty insects too? It looks as if it is suffering from something (she said helpfully) but we need more clues... ;D

Is it in a pot? I know I am repeating 4P's comments, but that is what came to my mind on seeing the picture.

Mine isn't looking all that happy atm either The witch...I keep mine in a pot, well watered and in a sheltered position. I attacked it with the secateurs the other day and it looks much happier. They are prone to scale as well...there aren't any sap sucking scale insects on the stem are there? Maybe a little drench with provado wouldn't hurt after you've tried all the above suggestions.
(they don't like being too wet either!)

If it's a young plant it may well just be 'growing into itself' The witch...it will prolly sort itself out eventually.

Why did you use ericaseous compost, The witch, J.I. No2 or 3 would have been fine? What have you been feeding it on? If it's potbound, have any of it's roots been damaged at all? I think though, it's probably been wind damage, as it has been rather windy recently.

I don't have senior moments The witch...I have hours..... : I do think that Bay is much more temperamental than people think. It's prone to wind burn, sun scorch and is easily affected by magnesium shortage, scale insect etc etc .....much harder to look after all round. I should give yours a little feed soon to help it recover
