Same here - we've still got loads to clear but it's amazing how quickly you can get through it. I've bought everyone wellies so there's no excuse, although the girls and OH are very keen, William is doing his best to wriggle out of it, new wellies or not! We've got lots of heaps of dead brambles which are going to go up a treat when we set light to them. The exhaust I found in the brambles - if I plant it will I grow a car? You might get a car nation though........

Went to the Lottie yesterday for a couple of hours, it was freezing cold and a bit windy but I really enjoyed pottering about, I weeded the cabbage bed which was swamped in chickweed and dug some parsnips, dug in the Runnerbean roots and stored the canes away safely..... and then just flitted about tidying up here and there.
I had imagined that the plot would have been a lot worse than it is, considering how much time Ive had for it of late, but I was pleasantly surprised. I reckon a couple more sessions like that and it will be back to normal. ;D

Yes, pictures please!
The idea of allotments is so alien here, perhaps because most people have enough room in their own gardens for a vege patch.
From what I have seen you could grow commercially on your allotments. Is that permitted?

Quite a lot of us give our surplus away, to local pensioners... they appreciate fresh veg far more than the young unfortunately. I received a tin of home made mince pies and Madelaines for Xmas from my OAP friends this year as thanks, and very nice they were too. ;D

So nice that you can share the bounty of your allotment with others and that they reciprocate too! You are so right about the young ones, ours are no different, won't grow or eat vegetables, would rather go and get some fast food. We share the bounty of our garden too and tend to receive other vegetables, fruit etc. in return.

Oh we do swops with each other too, one might have a different variety of something (maturing earlier), so we do a swop, carrots for onions etc. I make jam from the plum trees for Bob, a fellow plotholder, and he gives me a hand when Im picking, its quite a friendly place, a lottie.

Silly me! I just assumed the allotments were close by, like over the road. An incinerator does sound like a nice idea to warm things up. However, here we cannot use one without a permit as we have a restricted fire season at the moment and possibly a total fire ban in the near future. We tend to recycle everything from the garden nowadays.
