I have had some on the coffee table for Christmas day in the past, it depends on conditions, I have seen some coming up in gardens already...... the weather and temps are the key to the timing, Ill cross my fingers for both of us shall I? I have grown them in vases but they tend to get too tall and look out of balance with the container, I prefer the more natural shallow bowl.

i thought you could buy them with the special vase, it is a funny shape thing like an egg timer That might be an expensive way. From my experience just about every charity shop has a hyasinth bulb vase on it's shelf somewhere. Then you just need a bulb.

I've planted 4 wall hanging pots with miniature daffs and blue muscari.
Should look very pretty next spring.

Everyone's pots sound great, can I tell you about mine now I have finally got round to planting them and I have found this thread?
There are two hanging baskets, one pot and a selection of wall baskets which I have planted with pansies, cyclamen, dwarf wallflowers, ivies and in one a black grass I have been given. I have also put some mini irises in a couple of them. I think they look good and they are certainly cheery!

They sound wonderful Myrtle - I didn't realise dwarf wallflowers were available - I must look out for some. The witch, I've found the labels in the skip here at work (they are used to me doing daft things!) and they are Wallflower Prince Purple and Prince Yellow. It says 'approx 10", compact, perfect for containers' - time will tell!

I would have thought that crocus bulbs would be too small to fit in the top of those vases Emsey. They're the same shape vase, just smaller, about 10cm high, 3 are clear, 3 a pale purple glass.

I've got a long wait, they need to be in dark place for approx 12 weeks, then indoors for about two weeks. I'm sure you'll find something similar in the shops, even the pound shop has a single hyacinth bulb in a vase.

The witch, some of the dwarf wallflowers have come into flower so I will take a couple of photographs tonight, they look quite good in the baskets.

I quickly took a photograph of the yellow dwarf wallflowers in one of the hanging baskets at the front of the house The red one is out of focus (my eyesight again!) but here it is at the back of the house Actually neither are particularly good - probably not helped because I was trying to move the basket, stand on tip-toe and take the photographs at the same time!
