Has anyone ever grown Sanguisorba and Rudbeckia (the perennial ) from seed? Mine are not doing anything bar the one solitary Sanguisorba that appeared initially. They've been sown for WEEKS now in my warm bathroom. Shall I give up?

I know they might take longer being perennials but the other perennials like Creeping Thyme and Helenium are already up and at 'em! I expect it's because these are the two seed packets I REALLY wanted to go well this year......always seems to work that way!

Hiya, I'm growing rudbeckia 'rustic dwarf' this year from seed...the seeds germinated along with everything else but the seedlings look a bit sickly...I think that they don't like it too wet, don't like it too dry and are fussy about light as well....bless. Last year I grew monarda and cleome for the beeb trial...whilst the cleomes grew like weeds the monarda seeds refused to germinate no matter what I did. this year I've sown cleome 'rose queen' and it's still sulking in the pot whilst I'm coming down with monarda seedlings...I reckon it's just one of those things matey...some grow and some don't

I bought 3 different packets of Sunflowers today! I am going to have LOTS, in my garden and at school! Tall and short, yellow, red and shades of maroon - wow!
Sowed them all this morning! Just ventured out onto the GH (too cold though) and I have loads of Chamomile coming up. The potted on Angelica seedlings look really healthy but the cowslip babies are so tiny still. They don't seem to be doing much at all. Hurray hurray hurray. I want to sow more.....

Noticed that the Elecampane in the conservatoire has started to germinate and the Harebell is coming up in the GH. Still no sign of the Sangiusorba apart from the single (very leggy) one..... . Still only 1 Rudbeckia too...

What a fine time I'm having on my kitchen table!! Unbelievably it's too hot for me outside so I'm pricking out on the table - 40 Little Gem (ahem, didn't think they'd all go - very old seed), 25 San Marzano Plum , 20 Gardeners Delight tomatoes, 5 Moneymaker tomatoes, 60 French Parsley and 80 Curled Parsley. Sadly I ran out of compost halfway through so smallest and I had a quick but enjoyable trip to the GC where I bought a snazzy magazine (free Sunflower seeds) and she got a bionic lolly. We remembered the compost too. Sang our socks off to the Stranglers all the way home with the windows down. Coo, just like summer. Which was nice. Still got lots of seeds trays catching up with me.....I dooo hope the weather stays ok at night because they HAVE to go out in the GH & PT now.......now I shall go prick out the echinops and gaillardia trays. Isn't gardening WONDERFUL!

All the Sunflowers are up (4 trays of them), all the chillis and tomatoes are starting but STILL no sign of the Rudbeckias.....and still only 3 Sanguisorbas, and they don't appear to be doing anything but sitting there look pathetic. And a tray of Pyrethrums have all come up which I'm pleased about as the seed was quite old. The sell by date was last year which just shows it's always worth sowing just in case
