I took the boys and a little friend of theres to the Ashdown Forest this morning and as we were striding down the hill to the lake I heard a cuckoo. It's one of those sounds which has to work its way into your subconscious and then you have to listen carefully for the cuckoo sound.

I haven't heard that Myrtle but I like that idea. I spent some of the early years of my life walking the Ashdown Forest so I feel I have come back full circle to be here again with my own little family. I love the forest - even though you can be a long way from the road I never feel alone or worried. When Jessie dog was younger and I didn't work so much we used to go for some lovely long walks across the forest. The boys paid the cuckoo a cursory few seconds before they were off in the river with their friend LG...but I enjoyed the moment!

I wonder if we will hear them in Germany then were taking our bikes so should be able to get to some out of the way places.

I was in the garden this morning and heard a cuckoo. It was quite close. Hopefully not turfing some poor birds eggs out to leave its own.

And then that poor bird continues to feed the Blooming Cuckoo--but then that is nature-- Jenny I have never seen one in flight-but I bet that experience has stuck in your mind - My one-legged Blackbird is still around and I think he/she has found a mate because it looks as though it is busy with nest building.
