Hi Now the weather is picking up thought I'd start a new thread about what we have been doing gardening wise. The weather today has been lovely, we had a frost early morning but after that it really warmed up Having spent so much time down at the allotment, I thought I better cheer up the garden. last week I bought some Primroses from a local nursery and today planted them out in the front garden. Also potted up a container for the porch way pic's to follow. After that I found some bulbs (daffs and Tulips) in the garage, I had forgotten about but they had green shoots on them, so I planted them up in the hope that they will grow, I doubt they will flower this year but I live in hope. How about you ?

Today was quite cold and damp--really not Gardening weather (for me anyway)-but I did have a look around and could see quite a few jobs that need doing so I am hoping for better weather to come. I have also been sorting out seed packets I have left from last year so I might get these sown when the soil warms up.-Bigs

Your further North than me, so I guess the temps will be colder than I have been enjoying. Keeping my fingers crossed for warmer weather soon for you.

Yes that part of the garden does get quite alot of sun---but not the Kitchen window side--that is facing North--and doesn't get much sun at all--hence the Hellibores are thriving!

Maggy thinking about your Hellibor, could the soil be contaminated in some way as it affects your Tulips too. Or maybe Teddy ummmm goes to the toilet there. your could try carefully taking some soil away and adding some new compost mixed with a general ferterlizer.

I cant blame Teddy Ali its the front garden and he doesnt have access to it we only walk past when going out no if it is the soil its been there long before he was born because thats when I first noticed the tulips that were greenish and frilly! Ive had the normal hellibors for years and never seen growth like on this green one Ive forgotten what it is called now ill look it up and google it see what it says.

I read that aswell "Stinking Hellibore"--perhaps if you get too close it might stink--I dont know Ali--I feed my camelia with 'Rose Feed' or occasionally I use a pkt of concentrated iron/Phostogen--I cant think of the name at the moment but when it comes to me I will let you know.

I have just come in from doing a bit of tidying up in the garden-- Where does all the rubbish come from? I only did it the other day--I have 'pruned the two Rose Trees, given the plants a good sprinkling of Chicken Pellets and forked them in the soil. Some Daffodil/Tulip Bulbs had come to the surface (probally the frost lifted them) so pushed them back in. All in All a very satisfying time spent--now I a Jiggered and ready for a Cup of Tea!!!! Gin and Tonic would be better though--Bigs
