Well, I've spent much of the morning dragging out last years excessive plant growth and rotting autumn leaves. All set for the smell to fade, the frogs to move in and do their thing and new growth to start. I do love my pond ;D Here is a picture of it at it's summer best

We liked your pond as well. A job well done, you can really feel that everything is moving forward can't you now? Refresh my memory please - what is the size of your pond? I'm sure it was larger than I expected it to be from the photographs.

We had one in the other house and I used to love sitting watching the fish it is so relaxing but my grandkids used to have my heart in my mouth running around it ! we filled it in when eldest who the fish belonged to lost interest and stopped cleaning it and it should have had a bigger filter. We built a greenhouse in its place. Id like one now though.

well i'v spent some time this morning cleaning my pond out in readiness for the frogs to return, i cant believe how much crap i got off the bottom but i can now see the fish swimming around, and they all look healthy,, i trimed the plants in the water as well and got rid of the dead leaves so i can see the new growth, my iris's are beautiful in the summer,i will take a photo of it and put it on here so you can see it now, then i will keep you posted when everything comes up, .k Better still Petal why don't you start your own thread, i'd love to see some older pictures - if you have them and the new pictures of this year in progress. if you have time of course.

I love your pond too Sleepy, it's lovely and natural-looking. Ours is a wildlife pond but only about 4 ft x 4ft, more of a wildlife puddle! But the frogs and newts seem to like it alright.
